Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students:

 On behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome you to Southwood Middle School, home of the Superstars! I would like to congratulate our students, teachers and parents on earning another “A” from the Department of Education for the seventh year in a row. What an impressive feat! The reason for this success is not a secret. The key is high standards for all of our students, both in academics and behavior. This takes hard work, dedication and a strong desire for excellence to make it happen. Southwood has consistently built its reputation of excellence through a highly skilled and experienced faculty and staff, along with an incredible parent and community involvement team who support and enhance the overall school program.

 It is the mission of Southwood Middle School to prepare students to become productive, responsible, and self-reliant citizens ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow's technology and multicultural society. Southwood offers numerous programs designed to meet the many needs of our students. We are proud of our designation as a nationally recognized magnet school of excellence for the visual and performing arts. Together with a highly trained and energetic teaching staff, our school offers an exciting and enriched learning environment. We believe that when you visit our school, you will see these qualities demonstrated by those who constitute our school family!

 I am truly honored and proud to have been named principal of this great school. I look forward to working with you in maintaining and continuing to improve the educational achievement and excellence of this school, while creating an environment of inclusion, enjoyment of learning and exploration of possibilities and greatness where all children are encouraged to succeed and achieve.
